BATTLEGROUND IS BACK!

But now as a podcast! I'm thrilled to be a part of its rebirth, & if you were a fan of the show on HULU, you're gonna love this.

Read about it here: http://deadline.com/2017/12/hulu-battleground-podcast-1202224059/

For those unfamiliar with the series, Battleground was originally the very first original webseries produced by Hulu in 2011, exclusively for their streaming service, and released in 2012. The series, a comedy/mockumentary, follows a group of political campaign staffers working to elect a dark horse candidate to the U.S. Senate in the battleground state of Wisconsin. The series was created and written by J.D. Walsh, who executive produced it with Marc Webb. Walsh based the series on his own experiences working on a political campaign for John Kerry.

The first season ran for only 13 episodes, but made a major impact when it was released, with several critics comparing it to "The Office". Alison played the character "Ali Laurents" - a role originally scripted for a male lead, but her performance was so great that it won her the role. Alison's role in the series was so good that she was nominated  for it in the "Best Female Performance in a Drama" category at the 3rd Annual Streamy Awards in 2013. Alison has repeatedly stated in interviews that the Ali Laurents character is one of, if not her favorite acting role, to date.

Despite there being interest in a 2nd Season at the time, Hulu chose to not continue the series. However, as we can now see - it's been brought back as a podcast by UK 3ís The World At Large series.

Will Alison be in the new series? Apparently so - she confirmed it in an Instagram post earlier today! So, it looks like Ali Laurents will reappear, which is great because Alison's take on the character was always enjoyable!

All Season 1 episodes of Battleground, including various cast/character interviews, are available on Hulu.com (supposedly for free if you have an account). Additionally, the series appears to have been released on DVD at some point, though these appear to be limited to Region 4 (Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Central America, Mexico, South America, Caribbean Region.)

Anyway, enjoy! Grin
